Denese Palmer


Denese PalmerDenese Palmer is the founder and Chief Executive Officer of Southside Distributors Limited since June 2006. With over twenty (20) years of experience in food industry, purchasing, food safety & quality assurance, manufacturing services and logistics.

 

Ms. Palmer started her career as a Quality Control Technician at Southern Fruits in 1995.  She carried that spirit and drive to Santa Cruz Processors from 1996 through 2008 where she served as Quality Control Technician and worked her way up to Operations Manager and finally General Manager before departing and putting all her energy to Southside.

 

In 2014, she was featured in Prime for Success Magazine, titled ‘The Unstoppable Dream”. The previous year (2013), she was selected as a finalist for the Fastest Growing Business and Entrepreneur and went to New Orleans, USA, for the award ceremony. Ms. Denese Palmer was awarded the HEART Trust NTA Entrepreneurs Scholarship in 2013, the NCB Nation Builder Women in Business National award in 2012, the NCB Nation Builder Women in Business Regional award in 2010 and 2012, the Scotiabank Entrepreneurial Challenge award in 2012 and the National Bakery BOLD ONE in manufacturing award in 2012.

 

Most recently she was a finalist in NCB’s Capital Quest in 2015 which is a reality television series showcasing seven Small and Medium Enterprises (SMEs) competing for an equity investment of up to $50M depending on the needs of the companies. She has also achieved on behalf of the company the Female Exporter of the Year award for 2014 at the Caribbean Export Development Agency’s Caribbean Exporter Awards 2015.

 

Throughout her career, Denese has had the opportunity to establish a strong network of contacts with small & large chain hotels, supermarkets and food processing Companies Island wide such as Iberostar, Secrets, Intown Junction, Intown Black River, Morrison’s Variety Santa Cruz, P and N Hotel Supplies, Bedessee Imports Canada, Bedessee Imports U.S.A., Surya World Foods and Montego Imports Canada.

 

Ms. Palmer currently serves as Vice Chairman at St. Mary’s Primary School her alma mater and was Vice Chairman at Mayfield All Age School. In partnership with the Social Development Commission (SDC), Ms. Palmer serves as a Mentor and Motivational Speaker to Schools and Community groups in and around St. Elizabeth.

 

Denese Palmer holds a Diploma in Business Administration from the University College of the Caribbean with certificates to include HACCP Internal Audit, Common Additives used in Food Processing and Food Safety Modernization.
